Super Heavy Bench We Moved In

Super Heavy Bench We Moved In

The Price Was Right on this desk

The Price Was Right on this desk

In case it’s difficult to tell, here’s the color scheme:  blue.  There is low pile industrial grade blue carpet throughout.  The top most pictures show it best.  There is blue trim in the front room.  It’s kind of a country blue/light blue.  The carpet does have some lighter and darker blue variations in it.  The walls are white.  The Price is Right Desk is kind of a honey tan. The bench (did I mention it was HEAVY) is dark green.
I’m no good at interior design.  How can I transform this place using primarily paint, into something that looks bright and energetic like a gym?  My logo is going to be black and red.  I’d like to use logo colors in the design somehow, but don’t have a clue how to make that work with the blue.  I can’t change the carpet, and would rather not have to paint the trim in the front.  It has a really weird wood grain finish that may or not take paint.  Also, I like the green of the bench and would be fine leaving it as is, sans the heavy dirt!
Please feel free to give your expert interior design suggestions in the comments or tweet @strongsarah.   :-)

  3. OK, I’m no interior designer, so feel free to ignore :-)

I think blue is an ok colour for a gym, but I’m not sure it will work with your black & red logo. You could paint the walls above the trim red, but it might be too overpowering and dark. Could you find a paler version of your logo red that would go with the blue, maybe a pinky/peachy/orangey kind of shade, if you see what I mean?

The space looks fab though, I’m very jealous. My friend and I had dreams of opening our own exercise studio but it’s not really viable in our area. What classes will you be doing there? I recommend giant posters of motivational looking exercisers. If you’re doing Les Mills classes they will give you a load of free banners and posters which look really good.

  5. Hi Beth – It’s so nice to connect with you!! I think the space has great potential and hope I can make the absolute most out of it. I will be doing bootcamp-type classes for women here, using mostly body weight exercises plus a few “toys.” Eventually I will be transitioning into more of a kettlebell studio, if all goes as planned with RKC. Thank you so much for the kind words & suggestions.
