Nettie - How long have you been doing fasts? Do you find that you lose weight doing them? Yes, I ate breakfast on both of my two fasts, and I kept the fast to strictly 24 hours, no longer. Thank you for your comments. This is an intriguing topic - would love to hear more about your experiences too. :-)

Interesting you chose 9am. Did you eat breakfast beforehand. If you didn't you were doing a killer fast inclusing the hours you were asleep which makes it around 1 1/2days.

I fast from 6pm to 6pm. That way I get to eat an evening meal or breakfast and lunch every day. Making it still 1/2 the amount of food comsumed over 48hrs and a proper 24Hr fast but still always eating every day.

I find this is so easy and I look forward to eating healthy food as I can plan it beforehand and even get a day's meals ready the day before.
Please post more of your experiences.

sorry I am late to this. I wish there was an option to be updated when new comments are added.

I have done 24 hour fasts before, but it was years ago.

I will definitely blog/write about my experience when the time comes.

Liz - thanks. I think each person probably has a best schedule for themselves for fasting. The trick is in finding the right one for yourself. I am pretty happy with the mid-morning to mid-morning routine, but I may try something different next time just to see.

You were so right about the sleep! I'm actually looking forward to my next fast in part because of the especiially good sleep I'll get. Who'd have thought?

JC - Have you done a 24 hour fast before? I would love to hear how your first Eat Stop Eat fast goes. Please let me know! Thanks for your comment.

Interesting, thanks for sharing your experience. I do a form of intermittent fasting currently because it suits my hectic schedule. Next time I diet though I will be incorporating Brads 24 hour fasts. I will also document and chart my progress to share with others.

Interesting summary! I usually do my fasts from lunch to lunch, because then when that tired and out of it feeling comes on...I can go to bed and sleep through it! Somehow, it makes it easier. I only get that cold feeling in the last 2 hours or so of a fast, and since Brad says the benefits kick in at around 18 hours, I'll go ahead and eat 22 hours into a fast if I feel I need to.

I think fasting gets easier once you know what to expect. It will be interesting to see how your second fast goes!

Julie -- I definitely think the decaf tea was the right choice. I stood there considering the caff. tea each time though, wistfully. Get the water in early!

Cath -- Thanks! Yes, my last meal was pretty hearty, as my breakfasts usually are. Eggs & toast w/cheese. For me the protein component is mandatory for every breakfast.
Yay! Let me know when you want to do one. I'm probably going to try it again next week sometime. :-)

Yay! You did it! :) Great post, lots of good info to consider! Do you think what you ate as your last meal had any effect on your fast?
Looking forward to doing one together!

I will say toward the end of the fast I could not drink water either. I was sticking with tea because it made me feel full. I think I'd do decaf tea next time for sure. Caffinated tea made me feel a bit jittery. Glad you had a positive experience!
